The Water Portraits series is a continuation of a life-long exploration of the element of water, the substance that is life itself.  Water represents change, the passage of time (ever flowing), eternity, and is a metaphor for the unborn, for birth and rebirth, baptism, and reflection. Water is a powerful force that can never be contained. The Water Portraits are unsettling. Water is not a natural environment for humans, but yet here are dreamers who seem to be content in this watery world that gently rocks them, dreamers who mysteriously seem to exist without the aid of breath.

Self Portrait, Submerged depicts the artist under water at the bottom of a streambed. His eyes are closed and he appears to be at peace. Water ripples across his body, subtly animating his movements. The sound of running water permeates the space as dreams filter through his watery environment.

La serie Water Portraits è il proseguimento di una ininterrotta esplorazione dell’elemento ‘acqua’, che è vita essa stessa. L’acqua rappresenta il cambiamento, il passaggio del tempo (che scorre sempre), l’eternità, ed è una metafora  del venire al mondo, della nascita e della rinascita, del battesimo, e del  riflettere. L’acqua ha una forza così potente che non può essere contenuta. I Water Portraits  sono inquietanti. L’acqua non è un ambiente naturale per l’uomo, tuttavia qui appaiono sognatori che sembrano a proprio agio in questo mondo acquatico che delicatamente li fa ondeggiare, sognatori che misteriosamente sembrano vivere senza  dover respirare.

Self Portrait - Submerged raffigura l’artista immerso nell’acqua sul fondo  del letto di un fiume.  I suoi occhi sono chiusi e sembra in pace. L’acqua si increspa attorno al suo corpo, animando lievemente i suoi movimenti. Il suono dell’acqua che scorre permea lo spazio come sogni che filtrano attraverso il suo ambiente acquatico.
